Music Monday: Mayor Hawthorne

March 28, 2011 § Leave a comment

Today I wanted to do something a little different. Instead of a play list, I wanted to focus on one artist. Today I want to share the amazingly talented Mayor Hawthorne and his band The Country.

Almost a year ago, I had the privilege of seeing Hawthorne at the bar next door to my apartment complex. It was a close, intimate setting and simply wonderful. Hawthorne was dressed in a classic black sweater, Chucks and thick-rimmed black glasses. The Country was dressed in matching  red school sweater uniforms. The set was more than I could have asked for with constant crowd interaction. There was maybe 70 people there; we were all huddled around the stage. Everyone was able to get extremely close to the band and Hawthorne. Not to mention, the way the stage is step up in the bar, there is no back room connected to it. Instead, Hawthorne had to enter the stage and exit the stage through the crowd. It was a great experience. I only wish he would come back to Kentucky soon.

Out of all his songs, “Your Easy Lovin’ Ain’t Pleasin’ Nothin'” is by far my favorite. It helps that the music video is so inspiring with those bathing suits and dance sequences.
