I am not a huge fan of Beck. However, I do have a few songs of his that I can listen to often. My favorite song of his has to be “Where it’s at.” I love it. I mean if I had two turntables and a microphone, life could be like a musical every single day. AHHH, that would excite me.

I am a repeat offender. Tupac is gonna be a throwback for the second time in less than a month. He is good okay, so sue me. Seriously though, if you cannot recognize that he did some phenomenal things with lyrics than you are dumb. (Just kidding! But not joking, you should be able to tell he is talented.) Plus, he obviously loves his mama. That is always a good thing in my mind.

BSB/NKOTB has captured my heart once again, years later. I have no shame in my game. I went to their reunion concert; I sang along to every single song. I might have even screamed like a little girl. (Ok ok, the last one was a little bit of a lie….) What better throwback to have on this Thursday than both of these extremely talented boy bands. Seriously, I know it is a little silly, but I cannot help but love the horribly bad music of my early years. The Mister made fun of me all this week because I was constantly singing “Everybody” by BSB. He even had the nerve to tell me that I was a teenybopper stuck in a 20-something’s body. Psh. Please. I personally think he is just jealous because he does not have sweet dance moves like these boys.

This song from The Proclaimers “I’m gonna be” needs little to no introduction. Honestly, it is one sweet song, and it will be stuck in your head for days. I do not mind singing it for a few days after today though.
I have had a rough week. You know the weeks when the gray clouds just will not leave you alone. The weeks were you feel your best friend’s stress and pain, surprised that you both can experience good and bad together at the same time. The rough nights when you wake up in the middle of the night to what started as a good dream and ended in a terrifying nightmare…you just so happen to wake up at the witching hour. You are scared; you pray hard and long to St. Michael. I have had a lot of downing thoughts on my mind this week. Dinner with the Mister and Derek yesterday did not get me out of the funk either. It just kind of let me realize that I feel stuck while everyone around me is moving forward. Even though I have some super exciting and big new to share this weekend, I cannot get really thrilled about it because not everything is put together yet. I have lots to catch up on as well. I am hoping today I can get somethings finished…fingers crossed.
Either way, this song makes me smile, and I need that right now more than anything.

It is so hot and humid in the Midwest right now…so, so hot. I want to spend a lot of my time inside with the air conditioning blowing full force on me. Sometimes, I even dance in my undies and a tank with a fan blowing on me. More specifically, I dance to Martha and The Vandellas with the air conditioning going.

I am a little obsessed with documentaries. Who doesn’t like learning? So when I watched Crips and Bloods: Made in America, I went into this classic hip hop mindset. All I wanted to listen to for weeks after watching this was N.W.A. and UGK (even though UGK is not classic or hip hop….). I am obviously the furthest thing from gangster…can you say WASP? Either way, I can appreciate good music and learn from struggles individuals had in the past. Anyway, N.W.A. always is one of my go to when I need to feel hard.

It is no secret that I love words. No matter what, I find myself drawn to words like a mouth to a flame. It is not even just words in a story but also lyrics, advertising, news articles…anything that uses words to be creative in displaying an emotion, scene or life experience. It just excites me. With that in mind, I believe Tupac did some amazing storytelling within his rapping. “Keep your Head Up” is my one of my favorites; it is something that can make me realize that there is positive things in all gray days even if it does not seem like it.
